The Parliament House is a circular colonnaded building in New Delhi, India. It houses the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha of the Parliament of India. The building was designed by the British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker in 1912–1913 as part of their wider mandate to construct a new administrative capital city for British India.

Historical Significance

Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1927. The building was inaugurated in 1927 by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin. It has been the seat of the Indian Parliament since independence and has witnessed many historic moments in Indian democracy.
